Elsevier and PDi to deliver evidence-based patient education videos at hospital bedside

Elsevier, a leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, today announced that it is working with PDi Communication Systems, the largest U.S.-based manufacturer of interactive patient TV systems and mounts. The collaboration will enable the delivery of Elsevier’s interactive patient engagement videos in hospitals and clinics via PDi patient-facing displays and reinforces the importance of educating patients at their homes.

“PDi is very much aligned with our objective to engage, educate and empower patients in both in-patient and out-patient settings,” said Sonika Mathur, SVP Patient Engagement, Elsevier. “The information we provide patients is the same content and information accessed by their care providers but delivered in a patient-friendly format to positively impact health outcomes.”

Elsevier Interactive Patient Education videos encompass hundreds of topics that cover various medical conditions and educate patients throughout their entire care journey. The videos are tailored to increase health literacy and utilize evidence-based editorial information that is consistent with current medical practices and guidelines. “Our relationship with Elsevier will help patients and their families become partners in their care and improve the personal patient experience, health outcomes and patient satisfaction,” said Jim Mick, General Manager, PDi Communication Systems.

Mathur mentioned that Elsevier has developed close relationships with all major EMR vendors to closely integrate its education tools into the provider workflow. “Working with PDi enables us to integrate our experience in education and engagement more closely into the patient experience. These two aspects provide a major benefit for our customers.”
