Maternal Health Tech Challenge Finalists Compete at HIMSS21 for Top Prize

The HIMSS Global Maternal Health Tech Challenge Finals at HIMSS21 will feature the top 4 teams from around the globe pitching innovative solutions to address a maternal health issue pertaining to behavioral health or care coordination.

The HIMSS Global Health Equity Network and Accelerate Health joined forces to host the HIMSS Global Maternal Health Tech Challenge, seeking solutions to save mothers’ lives across the globe.

Studies have shown that mothers are dying at a disproportionately higher rate in underserved communities and have significantly differences in rates of pregnancy-related mortality by race and ethnicity, education, geography and age.

More than 40 teams were narrowed down to six in a virtual semi-finals competition, with the top 4 teams advancing to the Finals at the 2021 HIMSS Global Conference in Las Vegas.

Congratulations to our Top 4 HIMSS Global Maternal Health Tech Challenge Finalists:

  • CareSignal is a deviceless remote patient monitoring platform that engages large patient populations via evidence-based automated texts and phone calls. The portfolio of 30+ condition-specific and complementary support programs includes a maternal health suite, which features perinatal/postpartum depression screening (PPD), gestational diabetes and breastfeeding programs to support women throughout their pregnancy and after they’ve given birth.
  • JANITRI is a Sanskrit word for Mother, and this team is working with a vision to see a world where no mother or newborn die during pregnancy/delivery/post-delivery. The founder visited and met with more than 200 healthcare professionals to identify the problems in maternal and child healthcare. He found that fetal heart rates and uterine contractions are important parameters to get to know the status of fetus and labor progress and often are monitored inaccurately and ignored more than 85 percent of the time, which leads to mortality/morbidity cases.
  • LiquidGoldConcept addresses the global shortage of timely and skilled lactation support for mothers by providing best-in-class lactation education to health professionals using groundbreaking lactation simulation technology. On-Demand Telesimulations enable health professionals to engage in clinical practice over a video call with actors trained to portray pregnant and lactating patients and a variety of perinatal clinical conditions.
  • Nest Collaborative provides families and healthcare stakeholders with an easy-to-use platform for access to preventive lactation support. The solution is 100 percent covered by payers and is the only one that offers integrated billing and a value-based, preventive model improving maternal-child health outcomes.

Catch the finalists as they compete for the grand prize on Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2021 during the HIMSS Global Maternal Health Tech Challenge Finals at HIMSS21.
