Walnut Hill Medical Center only hospital in Texas to earn an excellence through Insight award for Overall Emergency Department Patient Experience

Walnut Hill Medical Center (WHMC) was recently recognized with an Excellence through Insight award for “Overall Emergency Department Patient Experience” for Medium Sized hospitals by HealthStream. Walnut Hill Medical Center is the only hospital in Texas to receive a HealthStream Excellence through Insight award for overall Emergency Department Patient Experience.

Walnut Hill Medical Center was awarded this honor for its commitment to excellence in patient care. To qualify for an award, a hospital must have been a patient experience-tracking client of HealthStream in 2014, scored in the 75th percentile or higher, and surveyed a minimum of 100 patients. WHMC was chosen for receiving the highest ratings in emergency department patient experience from among HealthStream’s clients, as well as exceeding industry standards.

HealthStream CEO Robert A. Frist, Jr. said, “We applaud Walnut Hill Medical Center’s high-level commitment to excellence in healthcare and are pleased to recognize their achievement through our presentation of an Excellence through Insight award.”

Walnut Hill Medical Center opened its doors on April 2nd, 2014 and partnered with HealthStream 3 months later in order to provide patients with the high quality care and customer service they deserve. Since starting the survey in July 2014, WHMC’s Emergency Department has been in the upper 90th percentile for patient experience every quarter.

“It’s one thing to receive healthcare, it’s another to be truly cared for. In our hospital, patients are always the center of attention,” said Cory Countryman, CEO of Walnut Hill Medical Center. “I am proud of WHMC for receiving this prestigious honor from HealthStream. This hospital was built around the patient experience and this award proves we are creating an environment that is not only safe for the patient, but continuously improves our quality and service, keeping the focus on patient-centered care.”
