NORC Report Highlights Strong Satisfaction with Access to Care Through Employer-Provided Coverage

AHIP is releasing a new survey conducted by NORC at the University of Chicago which highlights broad satisfaction with employer-provided coverage (EPC) and the value it brings, including convenient access to high-quality care.

“This report shines a light on how employer-provided coverage delivers high-quality, affordable health care for more than half of all Americans and their families,” said Jeanette Thornton, AHIP’s executive vice president of policy and strategy. “Serving every age, race, ethnicity, and income level, employer-provided coverage is the cornerstone for good health in America.”

Key takeaways from the report include:

  • 89% of survey respondents said their EPC has a provider network that includes options that are convenient for them.
  • 88% of respondents agreed their plan offered tools that helped them find in-network providers.
  • 82% of respondents said they had access to high-quality providers through their EPC.
  • The majority of respondents across all geographic areas reported high levels of satisfaction with their access to high-quality providers – even rural respondents, who can often face more barriers to care.

AHIP, through its Coverage@Work campaign, commissioned the report, which surveyed nearly 4,000 people from NORC’s AmeriSpeak panel.

More than 180 million rely on EPC for access to high-quality, affordable health care. EPC plays a critical role in keeping Americans healthy and continues to develop innovative ways to strengthen choices and control in the care, coverage, and protection employees receive through work.
