Mayo Clinic Updates its Five-Year Plan in Rochester as it Prepares to Transform Healthcare

Mayo Clinic’s Bold. Forward. strategy to transform healthcare globally and reimagine patient and staff experience in Rochester continues to advance. Mayo Clinic updated its most recent five-year plan to reflect potential plans and building projects that are being proposed in the next several years.

For decades, Mayo Clinic has provided its five-year plan to the City of Rochester to inform city leaders and the community about potential building projects Mayo Clinic proposes to undertake on its downtown campuses. The five-year plan, most recently submitted in 2022 was updated to reflect Bold. Forward. Unbound. in Rochester.

Potential projects in this updated five-year plan include two new medical buildings, patient/visitor parking ramps, and ancillary facilities all designed to enhance the patient experience and treat the needs of more patients in need of expertise in serious and complex disease.  

In June, Mayo Clinic announced approval of enabling projects in support of Bold. Forward. Unbound. in Rochester, a multiyear strategic investment that continues Mayo’s history of forward-thinking innovation as it seeks to reimagine the Rochester campus to transform healthcare and better meet the needs of patients with serious and complex disease and the teams who care for them. Earlier this year, the Mayo Clinic Board of Trustees approved a list of projects that began this summer. Final approval of the project and the investment from the Board of Trustees could come before the end of 2023.

Unbound. in Rochester will introduce state-of-the-art, flexible physical spaces to our reimagined downtown campus, allowing the full integration of digital technology and enabling us to continually adapt to the changing needs of our patients and care teams.” 

In the coming weeks, Mayo Clinic will continue to meet with neighborhood and downtown stakeholders to share potential plans and discuss their impact on Rochester’s future. In October, Mayo Clinic will present the five-year plan to the Rochester City Council for approval. Mayo Clinic will continue to regularly engage with the community to share updates and solicit input as these plans progress.
