Cybersecurity Threats and Legislation Explored at HIMSS24 Europe in Rome

The world’s most engaged and connected speakers on cybersecurity will explore the cyber threat landscape at the 2024 HIMSS European Health Conference & Exhibition, analyzing current legislation and cybersecurity innovations.

Cybersecurity is one of the key themes to be discussed at the conference from 29-31 May, 2024, in Rome as US federal data points to 2023 being a record-breaking year for cyber attacks on healthcare providers.

Aligning with Europe’s recent cybersecurity directive, HIMSS24 Europe will be the hub for expert-led discussions on the cyber threat landscape, both globally and locally in Europe, as well as analysis of trends in attacks, increasingly sophisticated enemies, threats to patients and the AI “arms race” in cybersecurity.

National advisor for cybersecurity for the American Hospital Association John Riggi will run a Cyber Attack Simulation Exercise for C-Suites on 29 May as part of a packed pre-conference agenda.  The former FBI agent will also deliver a keynote on the topic on May 30th, drawing on his decades of experience in combatting the world’s most persistent hackers and the criminals behind them.

HIMSS24 Europe will also host David Wall, chief information officer for Tallaght University Hospital in Ireland, in the expert panel, Bolstering Europe’s Cyber Resilience. Along with the Italian Association for Information Security, Clusit, Wall will share his experiences during the 2021 ransomware attack on the Irish Healthcare System and digital solutions to improve and support patient care.

The conference will also highlight Europe’s dedication to achieving a high common level of cybersecurity across the EU, notable trends and a health sector threat assessment.
