Samsung Medical Center Earns Stage 6 AMAM; First in Asia Pacific

Samsung Medical Center in South Korea has become the first hospital in the Asia-Pacific region to receive a Stage 6 validation on the HIMSS Adoption Model for Analytics Maturity (AMAM).

The AMAM maturity model measures the analytics capabilities that healthcare organizations have gained from having a strong analytics strategy and competency.

Samsung Medical Center’s robust analytics infrastructure incorporated a clinical data warehouse, an enterprise data warehouse and cloud technologies that allow multiple methods of extracting and analyzing data for research and other clinical activities.

Continuing its digital transformation journey, Samsung Medical Center plans to integrate its digital pathology with artificial intelligence, explore ways to analyze patient-reported outcome results and create eligibility criteria for enrolling participants in clinical trials.

“With a number of HIMSS maturity model validations already under its belt, Samsung Medical Center has once again proved its commitment to digital excellence with this Stage 6 AMAM certification – a first for APAC,” said Simon Lin, vice president and managing director of APAC at HIMSS. “With this achievement, the hospital is demonstrating how it is improving patient safety and overall quality of clinical care through the effective use and deployment of analytics across the whole enterprise.”

Earlier this year, Samsung Medical Center received two Stage 7 validations for the Digital Imaging Adoption Model and the Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (DIAM). In 2022, it received a Stage 7 Infrastructure Adoption Model (INFRAM) certification.
