China Century signs agreement with University of Chicago Medicine

China Century Group and the University of Chicago Medicine signed an exclusive agreement to improve healthcare delivery in China by bringing international standards and best practices to hospitals across the country.

“Our enterprise is expanding its activities into the healthcare sector by investing in and managing hospitals,” said Chen Liguang, Founder, Chairman and CEO of China Century Group, which already operates in the energy, technology and real estate sectors. “It was important for us to have a world-class medical enterprise to offer expertise and support in these endeavors.”

Under the consulting agreement, UChicago Medicine’s experts will travel to China to support improvements and care delivery in China Century’s healthcare facilities. Hospital leaders from China also will travel to Illinois to visit UChicago Medicine, one of America’s leading academic medical centers.

The UChicago Medicine team will assist China Century’s with training and operations in areas that include clinical service development, quality, patient safety, infection control, operational excellence, supply chain, informational technology, human resources, nursing and marketing.

In addition, the American academic medical center will help facilitate treatment and transportation for China Century patients who want to travel to the United States for medical care.

“Since 2013, when we opened our new state-of-the-art facility in Chicago called the Center for Care and Discovery, we have been working to find opportunities to export our experience to the rest of the world,” said Sharon O’Keefe, President of the University of Chicago Medical Center. “This partnership with China Century is our first major effort to bring the best practices of the University of Chicago Medicine to the rest of the world.”
