The 2025 HIMSS Global Conference & Exhibition concluded another milestone year, drawing approximately 28,000 healthcare and technology leaders from across the globe to the Venetian Convention & Expo Center in Las Vegas from March 3-6. Widely regarded as the preeminent event in healthcare technology, HIMSS25 served as an exceptional platform for showcasing groundbreaking research, insights, and innovations that are shaping the rapidly evolving landscape of digital health.

The conference began with an enlightening keynote address by Dr. Seung-woo Park, President of Samsung Medical Center. Dr. Park emphasized the transformative potential of digital health, particularly the integration of Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) into a cohesive and efficient healthcare ecosystem. He outlined how this advancement is revolutionizing patient care by improving data accessibility and driving better outcomes. Dr. Park was joined by Dr. Meong Hi Son, Chief Medical Information Officer at Samsung Medical Center, who introduced AI-powered robotic solutions designed to streamline clinical workflows and enhance operational efficiency.

Tuesday’s keynote address featured retired four-star Army General Paul M. Nakasone, the longest-serving leader of U.S. Cyber Command and the National Security Agency (NSA). Drawing from more than three decades of experience in national security, General Nakasone delivered a compelling talk on transformational leadership and the pressing challenges of cybersecurity in an increasingly digital world. He explored critical topics such as the intersection of technology, geopolitics, and healthcare cybersecurity, offering attendees practical strategies to fortify their systems against emerging threats.

A dominant theme throughout HIMSS25 was Artificial Intelligence (AI). HIMSS President & CEO Hal Wolf highlighted the significant shift in how AI is being discussed and implemented in hospitals and health systems worldwide. Major industry players, including Microsoft, Zoom, and Teladoc, seized the opportunity to debut cutting-edge AI solutions aimed at improving clinical decision-making, streamlining administrative processes, and enhancing patient outcomes. This momentum underscored AI’s expanding role as a cornerstone of healthcare innovation.

The conference also addressed critical healthcare challenges beyond AI, hosting hundreds of educational sessions led by industry experts. Topics ranged from advancing health equity and workforce development to the ethical considerations surrounding emerging technologies. These sessions fostered meaningful discussions and provided attendees with actionable insights to tackle the complexities of modern healthcare.

HIMSS25 further solidified its global influence with a significant international partnership. During the event, a memorandum of understanding was signed with the government of Türkiye, marking a pivotal step toward fostering global collaboration in digital health transformation. This partnership highlights the increasing interconnectivity of healthcare systems and the shared commitment to driving innovation on a global scale.

The exhibit hall at HIMSS25 was a vibrant showcase of technological ingenuity, featuring nearly 1,000 companies across seven specialized pavilions. Attendees had the opportunity to explore state-of-the-art solutions in areas such as interoperability, cybersecurity, AI-driven diagnostics, and patient engagement tools. These innovations collectively pointed toward a more connected, efficient, and patient-centered future for healthcare.

The event concluded on an inspiring note with a keynote address by Simone Biles, the most decorated Olympic gymnast in history. Biles shared her personal journey and emphasized the importance of mental health awareness, underscoring the connection between healthcare, technology, and overall well-being. Her heartfelt message left attendees with a renewed sense of purpose and a commitment to fostering a more holistic approach to health.

HIMSS25 once again demonstrated its unparalleled ability to convene the brightest minds and most influential voices in healthcare technology, pushing the boundaries of innovation and collaboration. The conversation continues at HIMSS25 Europe in Paris, scheduled for June 10-12, and will return to Las Vegas for HIMSS26 from March 9-12, 2026.
