Connecticut-based healthcare system selects Carestream’s Clinical Collaboration Platform for enterprise imaging
Lawrence + Memorial Healthcare (New London, Conn.) signed a contract with Carestream Health to implement its Vue for Clinical Collaboration Platform to deliver next-generation enterprise image management. This new technology is designed for timely delivery of patient diagnostic information at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, The Westerly Hospital, and affiliated medical offices and specialized treatment facilities. The healthcare system is a leading provider of healthcare services in the region and conducts more than 200,000 imaging studies a year.
The goal of this collaborative relationship is to deploy new capabilities that help enhance workflow and patient care while accommodating the healthcare system’s rapid growth and supporting the opening of a new cancer center. Carestream’s enterprise image management technology will replace legacy systems from two other companies.
“This agreement represents a major commitment by Lawrence + Memorial Healthcare to Carestream’s advanced image reading, management and information sharing systems. Our proven platform can help elevate the value of radiology by delivering more efficient sharing of patient information among multiple facilities and the area’s referring physicians,” said Jeffrey Fleming, Carestream’s Vice President of Healthcare IT Sales and Services.
The web-based enterprise imaging platform offers diagnostic and reporting tools that help physicians and specialists provide progressive emergency care, cancer treatment, cardiology and orthopaedic services as well as other specialties. In addition to eliminating disparate legacy workstations, the platform’s oncology reading workflow module offers significant advances in oncology screening by creating a single virtual study with real-time 3D volumetric matching of all relevant current and prior studies to help simplify the comparison process.
Carestream’s interactive and quantitative reports include graphical charts and trending data to help radiologists and oncologists gain a better understanding of each patient’s condition so they can create and adjust an effective treatment plan. A study from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) found that these advanced reports allow oncologists to reduce tumor assessment time by 8.9 minutes.
Carestream’s Vue Motion universal viewer equips physicians and clinicians with convenient access to a patient’s clinical history including images, video, waveforms and reports from FDA-approved mobile devices to help enhance the diagnostic and treatment process.
