Bisk Education partners with USF Health to conduct health IT survey, research to assist professionals considering career in this field

Bisk Education, a worldwide leader in online education, today released a groundbreaking survey about health IT professionals—an evolving field that links information technology, communications and healthcare to improve the quality and safety of patient care—addressing new data correlating education and experience with salary and job satisfaction in the field. 

Bisk Education and USF Health Morsani College of Medicine at University of South Florida partnered for the first of its kind survey, which provides crucial new information on subjects such as:

  • Growth in health IT
  • The relationship between education and salary
  • How credentials can boost salaries
  • Job stability

The survey was conducted in collaboration with HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society), a global organization dedicated to better healthcare through information technology.

“We are excited and honored to collaborate with USF Health and HIMSS on this very important health IT survey,” said Mike Bisk, president at Bisk Education. “This new data proves the value that continued education has on a health IT professional’s career.  We look forward to continued growth of this profession.”

The survey is vital for both health IT professionals and those considering a career in the field. The profession is so new that reliable statistics are few and far between. The survey, which will be conducted annually, aims to become the known source of information on the field.

“This research will be a great reference for future professionals looking to get into the field,” said Dr. Charles (Charly) J. Lockwood, senior vice president of USF Health, Dean of USF Health Morsani College of Medicine.

The survey comprises of information from 404 respondents with 51 data points from 7 countries and 42 U.S. states.

Other categories covered by the survey include years of experience, job opportunities and overall job satisfaction.

The survey’s results were compiled and analyzed by Dr. Joseph Verducci, Emeritus, Statistics, The Ohio State University. To view the survey, please click here.
